Introduction

Lawrence Engineering, a family-owned Toolmaking Company, was founded by Michael Lawrence in 1984. In 1995, the company moved into a purpose-built facility and has since grown into a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub equipped with the latest technology. Located near Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo, it sits at the heart of Ireland’s Toolmaking Industry.

Lawrence Engineering provides high-quality Injection Moulds, Extrusion Tooling, Jigs, Fixtures, and Special Purpose Equipment. To expand its services, the company is setting up a second site focused on medical manufacturing, offering Contract Moulding in Cleanrooms, Medical Device Component Manufacturing, Contract Assembly, and Product Design with DFM (Design for Manufacture) input.

Lawrence Engineering required a fully integrated ERP system to streamline its business operations. The company needed a solution that covered sales management, labour hours, timesheets, accounting, and nominal ledger functions—all in one system.

After discussions with Hybrid Technology Partners, they decided on Priority Software as their ERP solution. As a global leader in business management solutions, Priority Software provides flexible, cloud-based ERP designed for SMEs. Hybrid, a Gold Partner of Priority, tailored the system to Lawrence’s specific requirements.

Challenges

  • Identifying business requirements and system needs
  • Finding a fully integrated ERP solution
  • Planning and executing a smooth implementation
  • Ensuring IT infrastructure could support the ERP system
  • Training staff to use the new software effectively

The Solution

The project started with a series of scoping meetings between Hybrid and the Lawrence Engineering team. Some employees had prior ERP experience, which helped refine their specific needs.

Key areas identified:

  • Sales system directly linked to manufacturing order processing
  • Elimination of paper-based logging for labour hours
  • Real-time data retrieval and live reporting
  • Factory floor access to the ERP system
  • Multi-currency accounting with cost centre reporting
  • Customisable reporting for sales and clients

After evaluating various solutions, Priority Software emerged as the best fit. Hybrid demonstrated its capabilities over multiple sessions, leading Lawrence Engineering to implement it as their core ERP system.

Results

The ERP implementation was a success. The system’s modules went live as planned, meeting Priority’s expectations. Lawrence Engineering is growing rapidly, with extensive expansion plans. The cloud-based Priority ERP allows them to manage multi-site and multi-company operations efficiently, supporting multiple currencies and real-time access from any device.
